A short program for the HP15c. It can be used for IRR using the solve function.
We store the cash flows in registers 0 to 10. We store the number of cashflows in register 11 (.1) we enter the discount rate (r) in the x register before running it.

Just enter the interval you think the return rate is in x and y registers, and then press:
f SOLVE 0
It takes a little bit long - with the old HP15c - not so with the Ipod version or the new, upcoming HP15c+
